Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal
⅔ cup white sugar
3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
⅓ cup vegetable oil
1 large egg

1 Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9-inch round cake pan. 2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
2 In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, and egg.
3 Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. Do not overmix, as this can make the cornbread tough.
4 Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
